Comics, Video Games and Super Hero Movies - Why should I grow up?

Selangor & Federal Territory Plastic Modellers Society (SFTPMS) Merdeka Exhibition, 29-30 August 2009, e@Curve

I got an update yesterday from the MySciFiFan email group that there will be an exhibition by SFTPMS this weekend at e@Curve themed “Towards Merdeka and beyond”. I’ll miss this as I’ll be going back to my hometown for the long weekend. No photos/review from me.

Anyway, for those interested, you know where the Curve is right? From there make your way to Cineleisure. Outpost is on the same floor.

The Merdeka Collection is a growing collection brought together with the continual support of display themes from participating SFTPMS members. This year, the collection has potentially grown close to 100 exhibits of various categories. The exhibition shall be thematically arrange to highlight the precursor to independence, namely the period of World War 2, leading to the Emergency period right up to modern Malaysia with the advancement of our Armed Forces. An offshoot of the theme will include the nation’s achievement in the sport of rally and Formula 1 racing.

  3. Sungei Patani RAF Air base (WW2 era)
  4. Japanese bicycle invasion diorama (WW2 era)
  5. Japanese invasion of Johor Bahru diorama (WW2 era)
  6. Japanese WW2 Nakajima Oscar Fighter Plane
  7. Senoi Praqq diorama (Emergency era)
  8. Bukit Kepong vignette (Emergency era)
  9. Tok Janggut vignette
  10. Yap Ah Loy
  11. Tugu Negara ( Emergency era )
  12. Tiger of Malaya ( WW2 era )
  13. RMAF aircrafts ( 40 models various era up to current)
  14. ATM Armored Fighting Vehicles ( 7 models various era up to current )
  15. TLDM Vessels ( 2 models )
  16. Bosnia Peace Keeping Force diorama
  17. Air Strike diorama ( Emergency era )

Open to public for viewing between 12pm to 6pm daily on level 2 (cineplex floor) just immediately outside The Outpost with clinics inside.

SFTPMS is a non-profit organization whose primary objective is to inculcate, promote and advance the fascinating hobby of Scale Modelling in Malaysia, be it the accurate representation of real life as well as futuristic innovations in miniature. SFTPMS was officially registered on March 22nd, 2006 with the Malaysian Registrar of Societies in line with the Societies Act of 1966 with membership open to all Malaysian citizens of 18 years and above. At the date of this writing, SFTPMS enjoys the support of over 100 registered members.

In effort to raise funds for more exhibitions and activities, a number of movie standees will be made up for auction this weekend at the event. Standees include sci-fi, action & animated blockbusters from 2007 to 2008. Bidders are to submit their bids for each item using the bidding forms available at the exhibition to be submitted before Sunday 30 August, 6pm.
