The Mighty Avengers #21-23 – Earth Mightiest

Mighty Avengers #21 is the book’s first issue under new writer Dan Slott. Never heard of him as I don’t usually pay attention to who writes it, inks it or colors it. If the comic is good, it’s good. If it’s not, then it is not. Doesn’t matter who writes is, but somehow, I like this guy. I can feel there’s a minor but likable change. It feels fresh. If you are new to the Mighty Avengers, #21-23 wouldn’t confuse you. There’s enough background of what has happened. What’s going on and where is this story heading to get you comfortable, without boring seasoned readers.

Earth Mightiest is like a ‘reset’ issue. A restart of the Mighty Avengers with a new roster and it looks like Slott has successfully done that. He goes through the necessary motions to assemble a new team and sticking to the Avengers tradition of a threat no single hero can overcome. Earth Mightiest laid a solid foundation of the new team with Hank Pym leading it. It’s also interesting to see Hank and Tony Stark argue about which one will lead this new team in #23.

However, it seems the Scarlet Witch is the person responsible in assembling the team. She actually pointed everyone to the right direction. The Mighty Avengers now consist of Hank Pym, Hercules, Hulk, US Agent, Jocasta, Vision and Stature, but if you put all three issues together, the covers actually form a larger cover of the new team which also consists of Iron Man and Scarlet Witch.
