Marvel Studio is in final negotiations with Chris Hemsworth for the lead role in Thor, that is set to open May 20, 2011, and to reprise it in the Avengers movie. Avengers to follow in 2012.

With Iron Man next year, Thor after that and then Captain America. Marvel is really building up the anticipation with the stand-alone movies before the team up for The Avengers in 2012.

The relatively unknown actor made his brief feature film debut as George Kirk (Captain James T. Kirk’s father) in Star Trek, and now he’s about to be proven worthy of lifting the hammer Mjolnir as the star of Marvel’s upcoming Thor movie.
