Superman Unchained #1 and #2

I just got my Superman Unchained #1 and #2 last weekend. It was already at the comic shop a few weeks earlier, but I could not find the time to get them earlier.

This title was just launched recently, but it is already on wikipedia. That’s fast.

Other than the Justice League, Superman Unchained is the second title from DC Comics that I am buying monthly. I read about how Scott Snyder made Batman the New 52 best-selling solo book. With the great review on his fantastic work on Batman, plus the art Jim Lee who made Justice League the best selling team book, I was actually very excited when I got my hands on this.

And after reading #1 and partly #2, I think I am going to like Superman Unchained. I like the way Snyder lets the readers see what is Superman thinking during the action sequence. Something different from other the other title that I am reading. It makes the readers more connected to Superman.

Jim Lee’s art is impressive as usual. The detail is amazing, not just on the fold-out page, but the whole thing. This one you just need to get it a see it for yourself.

This debut issue also includes a bonus two-sided fold-out page as I mentioned above. It can be easily remove if you prefer to display it, but since I am a collector, I prefer it to be intact. Anyway, you will not be able to appreciate the giant poster if you buy the digital version.

In Superman Unchained #2, I was really impressed by how the team did a 6 pages based 20 seconds of Clark’s thoughts while fighting the rogue robot and the falling building.

Scott Snyder is trying to introduce a lot of things in Superman Unchained #1 and #2, if you are new to comics, you may need to read it twice just to make sure you got it :)

Anyway if you have always been thinking to start a comic collection, Superman Unchained is the best choice at the moment as it is only at issue 2. The title was also launched just before the Man of Steel movie. It should not be a problem for you to get both issues at any comic specialty store. If you prefer to read comics online, you could also download the apps as I did on my Galaxy Note II.

You could also read it on you Kindle. Buy Superman Unchained #1 online from Amazon. Trust me, this title won’t disappoint.

I really like the pull out poster in the first issue. It’s four pages wide and it’s awesome. Lee is truly my favorite artist.

Love that too, but it’s more practical if they did the 4 pages horizontally.

I totally agree with you, SU is a great new title (and finally a GOOD Superman comic rises from the New 52 pile!).

You should also check out Green Lantern and Aquaman both of which I rate just as highly!

If I have all the time, I would definitely buy Green Lantern, Aquaman and also the Batman titles, but being a father and also a person with a day job, it’s difficult to find time :)
