Smallville Fans Rejoice! New Comic Book Series, SMALLVILLE SEASON 11, to Pick Up Where Show Left Off
Fans of the smash-hit TV series Smallville haven’t had much to cheer about since the show ended its critically acclaimed 10-year run on The CW last May. That’s all going to change with the upcoming new comic book series from DC Entertainment: SMALLVILLE SEASON 11. Written by former Smallville show scribe Bryan Q. Miller, the new digital first series will be published digitally on April 13, 2012, with new digital chapters released weekly thereafter. Additionally, the online chapters will be offered in a print periodical, along with an episode guide to the hit television series, with the first print issue released on May 16.

The new comic book series picks-up where the show left off (with Clark officially now as Superman!) and features other fan-favorite characters including Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, Chloe Sullivan-Queen, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and General Lane. The book features an all-star creative team – in addition to Miller, SMALLVILLE SEASON 11 creators include print cover artist Gary Frank (SUPERMAN SECRET ORIGIN), digital cover artist Cat Staggs and interiors by Pere Perez (BATGIRL).

“Six months after Clark Kent donned the cape and took to the skies to save Earth from Apokolips… enter Season 11!” enthuses Miller. “New allies abound! New enemies afoot! And old friends return where they’re least expected! Pere and colorist Chris Beckett have done a fantastic job of capturing the look of the show and the players, and Gary and Cat are knocking it out of the park on covers. I couldn’t be more excited to help give seasoned viewers and new readers an all-access pass to Clark’s first year in the cape.”

The series is set for a digital release on April 13th 2012 and for the comic book version the first issue set to hit comic books stores on May 16th (almost exactly a year after the show finished).

How would the fan react? I am not sure, but if you ask me … I don’t like it. Seeing your fav super hero transforms from the pages of your comic book to TV and then to the big screen, is like a dream come through. But the other way around would seem awkward.

What about you? Anyway, I am not a Superman fan, so don’t blame me for not liking it.

Legendary Access

Premium Access
At the time the game is transitioned to free-to-play, all existing DCUO accounts with inactive subscriptions will be granted Premium Access. After the game is transitioned to free-to-play, Premium Access will be granted to any player that spends at least U.S. $5.00 (or the foreign equivalent) or 500 Station Cash on items in the DCUO in-game marketplace, or that purchases a DCUO DLC Pack. Premium Access does not expire.

Free Access
Provides basic access to the game with limited content and features. DLC Packs and other items and features are not included and must be purchased separately.

It should not be a problem if you opt for the free access. You will have access to all of the current DC Universe Online gameplay, including Gotham City, Metropolis and all of the current raids and alerts. Free players will be able to create two characters, join a League and purchase upgrades such as new adventures, additional character slots and powers as they wish. that should be enough to keep you busy for a few weeks.

Sony’s DC Universe Online is also enjoying some decent levels of popularity, although not as much as Arkham Asylum. Players can customized their own super heroes (or super villains) and embark on alongside famous characters from DC Comics, like Batman or Superman.

If you don’t like the Green Lantern movie, then maybe you would like to play as Green Lantern in DC Universe Online. Sony is deploying a new downloadable content pack for DC Universe Online, called Fight for the Light, based on the Green Lantern hero and exploiting some of the events from the recent movie, as well as the comic books.

I know, it’s a little bit too late for a Green Lantern movie review, but since I have watched it, why not

With the onslaught of Marvel comics making their way to the big screen year after year, DC Comics delivers Green Lantern. Although it tops the North American box office with USD53.2 million on its opening, DC still has a lot to do if they plan to make an impact. So far, none of their movies fared well with audiences, except for The Dark Knight. The Dark Knight is the only one from DC that’s on par or better than whatever Marvel has offered. If I were to give a one sentence review on Green Lantern, it would be …

Overall, it wasn’t to bad, but it was not enough and illogical.

Green Lantern had somewhat decent acting. CGI was great …. but story wise, it was too ‘thin’ if compared to X-Men First Class and other Marvel superheroes movies. They should also ‘show’ more of Blake Lively in Green Lantern Her presents was not felt and I don’t think she made any impact to the movie although it was what she said that turn the tide.

And it was illogical when the best of the Green Lantern Corps can’t beat Parallax, he could. The character build up of Hal Jordan was not enough to show that he could overcome his lifelong irresponsibility to be the greatest Green Lantern.

For a movie about the power to create anything with one’s mind, it was uninspired.

Martin Campbell, the only director who has directed two James Bond films – GoldenEye and Casino Royale, who I think did a great job in Casino Royale, can’t seem to bring the Green Lantern movie on par with The Dark Knight. Seems like Green Lantern will stay as a B-list superhero.

If you missed it at the cinema, either wait for it to come to HBO or just rent it out. Get the Green Lantern (Three-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy)(affiliate) or, if you prefer to be one of the GL Corps, be one in DC Universe online strategy game.
