I finally have some time to finish up Mighty Avengers #35 and Mighty Avengers #36. Looks like it is game over in #36. The end of the Mighty Avengers, both as a title and as a team. Although there’s a Siege banner on both covers, but the crossover is very minimum. It only shows that this 2 issues takes place at the same time as the battle for Asgard.

In this last two issues, Slott is back again with Pham and it’s about Hank Pym, Jocasta, Ace and One-Eyed Jacquie from G.R.A.M.P.A. against Ultron and his 10 billion brides. If you have not been following Mighty Avengers, then you better stay away from this. It may get complicated especially if you are trying to understand the Pym Particle, Infinite Mansion, Underspace and the Microverse.

Other than the weird wedding between Ultron and Jocasta …

Ultron Pym, do you take Jocasta to be your wife … to integrate her programming and subroutines into your own? … Do you Jocasta, accept Ultron Pym as your husband … granting him access past your firewalls to all your secure files … Then by the power vested in me as the creator of your souce code … I declare this cyber marriage complete.

… I wonder whether Marvel will revive Janet Van Dyne as they did on Steve Rogers?

Overall Khoi Pham’s art is great. He should be given more Avengers work. He gave Hank Pym a rougher and edgier look in this last two issues and I like that very much. Slott has also done a fairly good job giving Hank a new life. In summary, The Mighty Avengers is like a Hank Pym’s revival project as the founding Avenger.

Some people will love it, some may just hate it.

Although I have completed the Secret Invasion miniseries in May 2009, only recently I have the chance to continue reading the Mighty Avengers series. Talk about time management? I used to complain about my staff time management skills and now I, myself is doing the same. But this is my hobby. Comics reading is during my free time, when and where I feel like it, even though if it is about 9 months late

OK, back to Mighty Avengers 20. I really like the part at Janet Van Dyne’s funeral where Hank Pym comes up to say some words. There is silence at first, but then he lashes out at Tony Stark and blame him for everything “You killed Captain America, you killed Janet, but there you are! Who’s next Tony?” He would continue if not for Thor whom cut short his speech, say a few words and fly the doctor away. “Come, doctor. We shall mourn together in private.” You could really feel the emotions in the artwork.

Anyway, I am disappointed on how Bendis handled Janet’s death/funeral. He should have dedicated more pages in her memory like the way he handles Pym’s grief. That was marvelous, however when comes to this issue, it still goes down on who you like better. If you’ve have never liked Hank Pym, then this is disappointing.
