There’s never quite been a movie constructed like The Avengers. The Avengers combines some of the biggest superheroes from the Marvel universe. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, based upon the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. It is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which crosses over several Marvel superhero films including Iron Man (2008), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011) and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011).

The film is written and directed by Joss Whedon and features an ensemble cast, which includes:

The Avengers tells the story of Nick Fury, director of the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D., who recruits Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Captain America to save the world from destruction.

The Avengers is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2012 in the United States.

Adamantium is supposed to be able to cut steel like butter, so what the hell is Wolverine doing with Spider-Woman’s hair. Did John Romita Jr. forget about that when he was drawing it? You can also see that Spider-Woman shooting back at him. Anything going on here?

And the pizza slices are quite big

Again, Brian Michael Bendis and John Romita Jr. proves to be an excellent pair … if you are just going through Avengers #2 just by looking at pictures and ignoring the weird dialogs. If you really want to enjoy this. First, go through the graphics and try to understand the story and then only read the dialogs.

In the last issue, Kang appears before the Avengers and warns them about the future and we also saw Hulk as the architect of Kang’s action. In this issue, the team got the help from Noh-Var, Marvel Boy, to make a time machine.

After successfully building the time machine, they are able to see a glimpse of the future. Then something went wrong – the time stream is broken. Suddenly Wonder man attacks the Avengers, then suddenly he’s gone and out came the Apocalypse and his four horsemen.

After just two issues, if it is going to continue like this … then I will have a problem to have so many things at once. Bendis should slow himself a bit. And in Avengers #1, I thought that Maria Hill is running the team, but seems like Tony Stark is calling all the shots and everyone is following … hmmm…

With the end of the Mighty Avengers series and also the New Avengers (now it starts back to #1), I have to say that this issue is an excellent launch for a promising series. The action starts with the first issues and after finishing it, I actually ended up wanting more.

Brian Michael Bendis and John Romita Jr. proves to be an excellent pair. Although at time I don’t like the way John Romita Jr. drew the characters, but the way he expressed the characters in his drawings are awesome. I know, many do not agree with me, but that what good about art … 100 people may have 100 different interpretation although looking at the same thing.

With The Avengers movie due May 4, 2012, and if you are just starting with comics, Marvel, super heroes etc, then this would be a good title to pick up.

In the first issue, Steve Rogers handpicked Thor, Hawkeye (Clint Barton decided to switch back to Hawkeye from Ronin when he was in the New Avengers), Wolverine, Captain America (Bucky Barnes – Steve Rogers is not Captain America anymore), Spider-Woman and Iron Man to lead the premier Avengers team. However, Steve Rogers will not be in the team, The Avengers will be lead by Maria Hill.

One member is still missing though. Steve was about to say who, but then Spider-Man’s spider sense goes off and we get to see Kang the Conqueror make his big entrance telling the Avengers to listen to him. This is where the action starts. Kang tells them whats wrong with the future, and they need to build a time machine to go to the future to fix things etc etc etc. On the last page, you will see Kang reporting back to an older Hulk from the future.

You have to read it to love it
