Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma Team #1, as you can see the cover in the picture below, is in my current reading list. Together with The Rise of Ultraman #1 and Horizon Zero Dawn #2. The comic is a new four-part limited series that is based on the upcoming game.

Written by Cullen Bunn, art by Miguel Valderrama, colored by Jason Wordie, and lettered by Frank Cvetkovic, the comic give a good introduction to the world of the game.

The Cyberpunk 2077 comic was released last month. It would have been nice to get it at the same time with the release of the game, but unfortunately, Cyberpunk 2077’s release date has been delayed again.

The game new release date is November 19.

Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma Team #1 in Summary

How would you feel? You were on a mission to save a person from a sword-wielding madman. Who attacked and almost killed most of your teammates. You were almost killed too. Then, you were put on a desk job, had to go for therapy. When you are back on the field, still shaky from the traumatic experience, although you lied during your evaluation, your mission is to save and extract out the same sword-wielding madman.

Ok, Now Some Details ….

The comic focus on Trauma Team International, a privately-owned emergency medical care and rescue team that responds to the medical needs of Night City, where the game will be set. It is a squad that get high paying customers out of a difficulty or dangerous situation.

Saving people regardless of who pays for the service.

A world of high technology and low morals.

It follows an assistant EMT name Nadia, who is recovering from a tragic shootout that killed all of her team members.

The issue opens with Nadia in a mental health evaluation answering some questions related to the events of her last mission. She was asked on how she felt about her job and her last mission. You know that she lied.

At the same time, in the background, it retells the mission on how she saw her teammates got shot one by one.

And at the final moment she saw who killed Zander. Right in-front of her, with a sword. Luckily the flying ambulance (not sure what to call it) kept firing to clear the area.

Next, Nadia immediately joins a new team and goes out on a mission. The mission started as bad as the first one. One of her squad member Stratter got shot and required stimulants, but she froze for a while.

There’s a flashback of her previous team member being shot in the head.

Although she was cleared for active duty, you know deep down that she has not really recovered from the psychological trauma.

The team managed to get in the room to save the person that made the emergency call. She recognized the man. It’s the same person with the sword. The source of her psychological trauma.

How will Nadia react? Will she seek revenge? Or just do her job like she answered in her mental health evaluation.

The cliffhanger will make you crazy if you don’t have #2 with you now.

Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma Team #1 final page

The first issue set up the story and place nicely. Based on this issue, you know how violent the series will get.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma Team #1 and I also hope that I could see Nadia and her team again in the game.
