Green Lantern The Movie: A Review
I know, it’s a little bit too late for a Green Lantern movie review, but since I have watched it, why not 😀
With the onslaught of Marvel comics making their way to the big screen year after year, DC Comics (delivers?) Green Lantern.
Although it tops the North American box office with USD53.2 million on its opening, DC still has a lot to do if they plan to make an impact. So far, none of their movies fared well with audiences, except for the Dark Knight. The Dark Knight is the only one from DC that’s on par or better than whatever Marvel has offered. If I were to give a one-sentence review on Green Lantern, it would be …
Green Lantern Movie Review: Was That It?
Overall, it wasn’t too bad, but it was not enough and illogical.
Green Lantern had somewhat decent acting. CGI was great …. but story-wise, it was too ‘thin’ if compared to X-Men First Class and other Marvel superheroes movies. They should also ‘show’ more of Blake Lively in Green Lantern 😀 Her presence was not felt and I don’t think she made any impact to the movie although it was what she said that turn the tide.
And it was illogical when the best of the Green Lantern Corps can’t beat Parallax, he could.
The character build-up of Hal Jordan was not enough to show that he could overcome his lifelong irresponsibility to be the greatest Green Lantern.
For a movie about the power to create anything with one’s mind, it was uninspired.
Martin Campbell, the only director who has directed two James Bond films – GoldenEye and Casino Royale, who I think did a great job in Casino Royale, can’t seem to bring the Green Lantern movie on par with The Dark Knight.
Seems like Green Lantern will stay as a B-list superhero.
If you missed it at the cinema, either wait for it to come to HBO or just rent it out. Or watch the Green Lantern movie online.
At least I liked my Green Lantern coffee mug. FOC from Canon.
Green Lantern
Plot outline: The Green Lantern Corps is a brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, with each Green Lantern member wearing a ring that grants him superpowers.

With the encouragement his childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris, if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax and become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

They should have not used this quote in the movie.
In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil’s might,
Beware my power… Green Lantern’s light!
