Robotech TV Series: The Complete Set
No, you can’t find any download of the popular Robotech TV Series here, but if you are actually looking for it, get it from Amazon. It’s free on Prime.
After visiting my dad at the hospital few weeks back, I dropped by to the nearest shopping mall, since it was only about 1 KM from my dad’s house. Fixed my Nike sneakers, had a very late dinner and was just looking around; window shopping.
Until I reached this particular shop and it sells quite a list of animes.
Saw that they have Robotech and it was quite cheap. Didn’t think twice and I got myself the complete set of the Robotech TV Series, plus one of the movies titled Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles. Actually, the shop only got these two at that time, I might buy all if they have them đ
I was looking for this Robotech TV Series for quite a while but the anime shop near my place was selling at a much higher price. I wanted to wait for a SALE, but then I found this place.
I could have gotten myself the pirated version but it was dubbed in Mandarin đ I would have bought it if was in Japanese with English subtitles but not Mandarin.
So, when the shop told me that it has the complete set, episodes 1-85 and the price was also a bargain, I didn’t think twice and even asked them to add the movie.
Talk about impulse shopping!
As I’ve mentioned in another post, I read American comics from Marvel and DC. None from the Manga type but I watch anime, funny isn’t it. Maybe I should buy a few Manga titles after this. Anyway, for anime, most of my favorites are the mecha type like Robotech and Gundam.
The Robotech TV series was shown on TV when I was a kid, and I was an avid follower of that series. Somehow, I can’t remember exactly why I was not able to watch every episode and also didn’t actually finish watching it. Maybe it was due to my swimming classes. Only through my friends, I knew how it ended.
One thing I remembered was telling myself to get it if it is available when I got the money.
When I started working, anime was not as popular as it is now and it was also difficult to find any anime titles at an ordinary video shop. Even if I could, it was very expensive and that stops me from getting. That was almost 20 years ago.
I was actually excited the minute I walk out of the shop with Robotech on my hand.
Got any dream come true lately. Mind sharing it?
Now that I got the full series, the next target would be to get the action figures. If you go to Amazon, the action figures are quite expensive if you compare it to the likes of Wolverine action figures or the one from Hasbro Marvel Legends, but trust me, you will fall in love if you look at the detailing.

Robotech vs Macross?
If you are new to Robotech, you may have heard about Macross and also Mospeada. You should be confused.
Robotech, the 85 episode series that you are well aware of, was stitched together from three different anime series that was aired in Japan in the 80s. The anime was edited together and a hybrid story was added to make the three separate series mesh together as one long epic story that we know today as Robotech.
The three anime series are Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada.
It was brought to the US market and the rest of the world outside Japan by Carl Macek and Harmony Gold.
It all started in 1982 when Harmony Gold purchased the US and international distribution rights to Super Dimension Fortress Macross from Tatsunoko Productions. The series only consisted of 36 episodes which are not enough as at the time, a show in America requires at least 65 episodes to be syndicated.
The solution, Harmony Gold purchased the distribution rights to Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross and Genesis Climber Mospeada, tied all three together.
Without Robotech, anime would not be as popular in the states as it does today and so too to the rest of the world.
At that time, it was also one of the most mature cartoons American could see with an interracial relationship, blood and gore, and excessive drinking.
What Else Other Than Robotech
Macross Frontier
There are many Macross anime series if you got the time to watch them. Recently I watched Macross Frontier online and loving it too.
I have watched the first 7 episodes. The anime is mix of mecha battles, romantic drama and it seems to emphasize a lot on songs. The same elements as the original Macross that Robotech came from. Even the first few episodes seems similar to the original. Comparing it with the old Robotech, Macross Frontier has been given a total facelift. The animation is flawless and the fight sequences are fantastic. After watching the 7th episode and if the series continue to produce high quality storyline and visuals, Macross Frontier will be like what the original is now. A legend, of course, to mecha fans.
Following a catastrophic war against a race of giants known as the Zentradi, humanity has escaped towards the center of the galaxy aboard a fleet of colonial vessels called the Macross Frontier. As the extraterrestrial threat is left further and further behind, life on Macross Frontier proceeds as usual.
In the year 2059, a young mecha pilot trainee named Alto Saotome and his colleagues are preparing to perform an accompanying routine for the famous singer Sheryl Nome, who has come to Macross Frontier for a concert. During the performance, a biomechanical alien species known as the Vajra make a sudden appearance, breaking through the defensive perimeter surrounding the vessel and crash-landing near the concert venue, plunging the entire city into chaos. As the concertgoers evacuate, a young girl named Ranka Lee is left behind and gets targeted by the Vajra, but she is saved at the last minute by Alto. Following these events, the Strategic Military Services program notes Alto’s skill in battle, resulting in his recruitment to combat the new alien threat.
