Star Wars Day: May the Fourth Be With You
Happy 40th Birthday Star Wars! It’s Star Wars Day!
Star Wars movie was released forty years ago on May 25th, 1977. Today it has become one of the greatest movie franchises of all times, with prequels, sequels, animated series, TV shows, video games and a lot of merchandise.
It Is Star Wars Day, So What Do You Like About Star Wars?
1. The Millennium Falcon
There’s no other iconic ship in science fiction than the Millennium Falcon. It is also the coolest spacecraft in the entire franchise.
2. The Star Wars Theme
John William’s score remains one of the greatest and most famous film scores of all time. I will never forget the first time I saw those yellow letters and that intro flash out of nowhere with this theme song in the background. What a masterpiece from a genius. Very fortunate to live in his time!
The next time you hear this, please remember to rise – It’s our national anthem.
3. The Lightsaber
Similar to the iconic Millennium Falcon, is there any weapon that is more badass than a Lightsaber?
A Lightsaber has an amazing humming sound when moved. It can cut through most of the material in the Star Wars movies, can deflect laser beams and comes in multi-colors. Coolest fictional weapon ever.
The lightsaber battles are also awesome. The lightsaber battles in the original trilogy were kind of slow. When the prequels came out, it made the originals look boring.
In the Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, the lightsaber combat against Darth Maul by Obi-Wan and Qui Gon Ginn was stunning. Their movements are so much more fluid and action-packed than the original trilogy. It is pure lightsaber fighting with no one speaks. It was also the first time we saw a double-bladed lightsaber. It blew up my mind. Never ever thought there’s one.
The action figure above is from the Star Wars The Black Series Hyperreal – The Empire Strikes Back Luke Skywalker. 8-Inch-scale Luke Skywalker figure. Realistic articulation and detailing.
The above are the things I like about Star Wars. It is Star Wars day today, what about you?
