Ignoring Call of Duty Black Ops 4.
I have never missed the Call of Duty series on PlayStation ever since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on PlayStation 3. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is also the first game I bought with my PlayStation 4 Star Wars Battlefront bundle.
It’s the first in the Call of Duty series to ditch the single-player campaign. I am not going to skip the game due to that, but just putting on hold for a while. I got two games on hand which I think I should finish them first – Destiny 2 which was free last month for PlayStation Plus members and Bloodborne which was free in March 2018.
Even if there is no single-player, most reviews are giving Black Ops 4 a thumbs up. The game is focusing on multiplayer, the co-operative Zombies mode, and Blackout, an all-new battle royale mode.

GameSpot 8/10 – Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 Review – Zombies, Blackout, Multiplayer
Black Ops 4 isn’t short on content, and its three main modes are substantial. Multiplayer introduces more tactical mechanics without forcing you into them, and it largely strikes a good balance. Zombies have multiple deep, secret-filled maps to explore, though its returning characters don’t hold up and prove distracting. Finally, Blackout pushes Call of Duty in an entirely new direction, making use of aspects from both multiplayer and Zombies for a take on the battle royale genre that stands on its own. I enjoy the Call of Duty experience, from the feel of the weapons to the fast-action gameplay that throws you into the action. Call of Duty works best when it throws a diversity of experiences at you. The multiplayer game accomplishes this with the constant duels between the Specialists. The Zombies experience will keep you trying to survive for just one more round. And Blackout could provide an endless set of crazy and fun experiences.
I hope that Treyarch and Activision see this as a new jumping off point, with frequent updates to add new experiences and maps to Blackout and the other modes. But we’ll see just how much the Call of Duty community appreciates what Treyarch has done. [Full review]
Call of Duty Black Ops 4: The Kotaku Review
Black Ops 4 gets everything right that last year’s Call of Duty got wrong. There are some who will criticize Black Ops 4 for adding battle royale or being influenced by other popular shooters, but I think this is a fun, polished Call of Duty game adapted for modern times, and Blackout is better than any other “realistic” battle royale game I’ve played.
